Museums
As the capital of Indonesia, Jakarta has an endless supply of historical and cultural sights to see. One of the most popular sights is the National Museum of Indonesia. This museum was built in 1862 and has a wide variety of collections. These include jewelry, gold, Sumatran statues, and textiles. Free tours are offered in English on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Nightlife

For drinks with a view, head to the Skye Bar on the 56th floor Menara BCA or the Cloud Lounge on the 49th floor of the Plaza Building. For dancing and clubbing, check out Blowfish with its excellent selection of DJs. If you prefer a nightclub with cool lighting and a great sound system, check out Colosseum.
The Sights
When not dancing or drinking, walk around the city to check out some the fascinating sights. Stroll down the Thamrin-Sudirman Avenue to see the impressive financial and business high-rises. There is also great shopping to be had in this area. Continue your walk to the Merdeka Square where you can go up in the National Monument for a great view of Jakarta. After the monument, stroll through the nearby park. To examine some older, Dutch architecture, walk to Lapangan Bateng. The largest mosque Istiqlal is also there. Finally, check out the President’s Palace in Old Batavia the historical part of the city.
