London is a city that boasts a vast array of things to see and do. With so many attractions, it can often be difficult to decide which to visit, so here are our top 5:
1. Buckingham Palace
One of London’s most iconic sights, everybody needs to visit Buckingham Palace at some point in their lives. The palace is a great, budget-friendly sight to see, so take a snap in front of the palace’s grandeur or watch the changing of the guards. Not everybody can say they’ve been inside Buckingham Palace and, for a small admission fee, you could be one of them. Tours operate through the state rooms and gardens and are a great way to learn more about how the royals live.
2. London Eye
The London Eye is a great way to enjoy the breath-taking views of London. Situated on the banks of the River Thames, you can even enjoy a glass of champagne or a chocolate tasting experience as you enjoy panoramic views of this great city.
3. Up at the O2
If you fancy a more daring way to see the sights of London, look no further than Up at the O2. Securely fastened to a safety rope, you will actually climb over the domed roof of the O2 Arena, formerly the Millennium Dome. The viewing platform in the centre of the roof will provide 360 degree views of London. It will certainly make an interesting holiday story!
4. Madame Tussauds
Enjoy a bit of celebrity spotting with a difference, at Madame Tussauds. The impressive waxworks will have you questioning whether they are the real deal. Join in Jessica Ennis’ Olympic celebrations, sneak into Henry VIII’s portrait or help Shakespeare pen his next masterpiece. There’s even rides too, like the Spirit of London and Marvel Superheroes 4D, which makes Madame Tussauds a fantastic family day out.
5. London Dungeon
London is a city with a legacy, and history can be found at every turn. Take a look at London’s criminal past through this interactive experience, where the convict characters really bring London’s history to life. From Sweeney Todd to Guy Fawkes, there are frights and laughs round every corner but will you make it out without being hanged? Unlikely…
After such an action-packed day, you’ll be glad to get your much needed rest in a comfy bed. Hotels can be expensive, so it may be worth looking at short stay apartments in London. These provide a great base for even the most adventurous London trip.
