Tips for turning your trip to Australia into the journey of a lifetime

How many times have you thought to yourself that you would love to visit Australia but are put off by the 24 hour (and sometimes longer) flight time? This might be off-putting initially, but the best way to counter this is to ensure that you make the most of your time down under. With the cold weather encroaching on us in the Northern Hemisphere, there’s no better time to tell your boss you want some time off, hop on a plane and soak up the sun. Here are some tips to help transform your trip to Australia into the journey of a lifetime:

Take in some of Australia’s rich cultural history with a visit to Uluru or Ayre’s Rock

Uluru

No trip to Australia would be complete without a visit to Ayre’s Rock, otherwise known as Uluru. It is the ultimate destination for a trip to the famous Outback, given that it is 462km from Alice Springs. The immediate attraction to visiting Uluru is quite simply that it is stunning. Another reason, however, is because of the spiritual significance the site holds for Aboriginals meaning that it is an important part of Australia’s cultural heritage.

Make time for some fun and relaxation in the evenings

One thing that so many of us do when travelling is concentrating too much on filling our days with activities and site-seeing, leaving us exhausted by the time the evening comes. If you’re looking for the authentic Australian experience, clearly you will need to get out and about during the day and night. One way to treat yourself in the evening would be to visit one of Australia’s world famous casinos – it would be the perfect excuse to get dressed up, have a couple of cocktails and see if you’re feeling lucky. Of course, one way to maximise your chances of winning on the night would be to practice your poker, blackjack or slots on an online casino like Ruby Fortune. Another option would be to treat yourself to a delicious evening of fine dining in one of Australia’s world-famous restaurants.

Treat yourself to an underwater camera and capture the Great Barrier Reef

Let’s face it; the camera on your phone is probably better quality than the digital camera you bought a while back. This is fine for taking some snaps whilst out and about but clearly would not be suitable for underwater escapades. If you’re planning on taking in some of the breath-taking natural sites in Australia, like the Great Barrier Reef, you might want to invest in an underwater camera like this one from Polaroid so that you capture some of the magic.
