Spain is one of the top countries in the world for tourists to visit, and it’s not difficult to understand why. Millions of people flock there year upon year hoping for a taste of the sunshine that Spain seems to experience year round – it’s not called Sunny Spain for nothing! But Spain is a huge country, and its territory includes a number of islands off its coast, all of which are excellent holiday destinations. So here are a few of the most exciting places to visit if you’re planning a holiday to Spain.
Benidorm is one of the busiest and most bustling resorts on Spain’s Costa Blanca. It is the perfect place for a stag night or hen do, filled with countless bars and clubs, each offering something different, so there’ll be something for every group of friends to enjoy. Not only does it have some of the most reasonably priced hotels with all the facilities you could want right on your doorstep, such as the La Estacion Hotel, but it also has beaches, theme parks, boat rides and water sports. You won’t be bored on a holiday in Benidorm!
If it’s a city break you want, look no further than Barcelona. This bustling city is the hub of all Spain’s most exciting architecture and nightlife. During the day you can get yourself lost wandering the streets, and in the evening you can dance the night away to whatever takes your fancy. Make sure to spend a day exploring the yet unfinished masterpiece that is the Sagrada Familia, Gaudi’s Cathedral.
Northern Spain is lesser known for its sunshine, and is renowned as being particularly green and undiscovered. Here you’ll be able to explore a bit of the ‘traditional Spain’ from the Basque Country to Galicia. It has a larger annual rainfall than the rest of Spain and slightly cooler temperatures, meaning a more temperate year round climate. Spend your time here sampling the local food, with plenty of seafood and fish, paella and tapas. Bilbao is a beautiful city to visit with more gorgeous architecture including the Teatro Arriaga where you might be able to catch an opera or theatre performance.
If you fancy heading out to one of the islands, Ibiza is the most popular for young people looking for an exciting holiday. It boasts some of the biggest clubs in the world, with several ‘super clubs’ located around the island, playing a variety of different genres with something to suit everyone, from house to rock. The days can be spend lounging around the pool or the beach in soaring temperatures.
