Perfect in Paphos

Paphos in Cyprus

Cypriot holidays are all about sun; days lazing on the beach, drenched in golden light, feeling the heat dancing over your skin. Bliss, isn’t it? There are some fantastic resorts on the island, sure to make a summer holiday to remember. Why not make it even better by combining your holiday with a night’s stay pre-flight with AirportHotels.com? After all, a holiday that starts earlier than planned is never a bad thing!

This idea occurred to me a couple of years ago, and since then it’s something I’ve always tried to fit into my travel plans. It’s becoming the norm for me to have early starts, and because this doesn’t bode well for my stress levels, I decided to do something about it. I booked one of the large range of Gatwick Airport hotels, and have never looked back. It’s definitely something you should try, whether you’re flying early, with children, or simply want a bit of R&R pre-flight.

The first time I visited Cyprus, I based myself in Paphos. This hugely popular resort has everything you could want out of a summer holiday, and it’s a very short distance from the airport too, which is an added bonus.

For those of you with a penchant for history and architecture, Paphos is a great choice, as it’s surrounded by mythical and solid history. Visit the Villa of Theseus, and the House of Dionysus for a bit of mythical – this is certainly a must visit in my opinion.

For me, Cyprus is about beach time. You’ll need to jump on the bus, but it’s worth it for the nearby white sand beaches and facilities. There are many water-sports on offer, which are a godsend in high summer temperatures. If you do want to get out and about, you’ll find the bus network is reliable and easy to use, so make sure you get exploring, as there is some beautiful countryside in the surrounding area.

When the sun goes down, you’ll find a great range of night-life on offer in Paphos. Whether you want lively and brash, or quiet and chilled-out, you’re catered for. Of course, you’ll be wanting to line that stomach first, and you won’t go hungry with a wide range of international menus on offer, sitting comfortably next to more traditional dishes, such as delicious grilled halloumi.

There isn’t much that Cyprus doesn’t offer, and all with a sunshine backdrop that leaves you feeling on top of the world. Do check out my idea of booking a hotel pre-flight, to really kick-start your break. I can vouch for the range of Heathrow hotels, and most large UK airports offer a wide selection, so check out what’s available near you.

Aphrodite loved Cyprus, and so should you!
