I bet you’re all wondering where you should spend this summer holiday! Which is the ‘hot spot’ travel destination this year? The city of spices and extreme shopping sessions, Istanbul is the best city break you can possibly imagine. There are so many things to see and do in this Turkish capital that you’ll end up feeling sorry for not having discovered this place sooner! Travellers are dying to visit this extravagant city and no wonder people are calling it the ‘ El Dorado’ of Turkey!

This wonderful city built on two continents, offers a fantastic combination of both Eastern and Western culture. Istanbul has a powerful vibrant feel coming from the ancient palaces and eye-catching Islamic mosques surrounded by European-style bars and shopping centres. And although Istanbul is the home to almost 10 million people, this place lacks the hectic, overcrowded appearance thanks to its extraordinary position on both sides of the River Bosphorus.

Whether you’re planning a fun, adventurous getaway or a simple, delightful family vacation then Istanbul will provide you with all the key ingredients for an unforgettable holiday. First thing first, book your flight to Istanbul early so that you won’t spend a huge amount of money on transportation. Even though hotels in Turkey generally have five star facilities, for a genuine Istanbul experience it is advisable to look for other types of accommodation or rent an apartment in Istanbul, for instance.

There are so many attractions in Istanbul worth seeing: the enchanting Blue Mosque, the immense 15th century Topkapi Palace, the Galata Tower, which is the main feature of the European side of Istanbul and the great Golden Horn, a wonderful stretch of water that divides this part of the city in two. Don’t leave this exciting city without paying a visit to one of its hammams- local name for Turkish baths. If you want a full option experience, check out a bone-cracking session of Turkish massage.

Leave all your diets at home because Turkish cuisine is sinfully delicious. Try out some original Turkish made kebabs, doners and Turkish sweets that will literally melt in your mouth.

Istanbul has a large display of good bars and excellent clubs and also many tea houses where you can delight yourself with some Turkish tea while puffing on apple-tobacco hookahs, the Turkish name for water pipes.

For those shopping freaks Grand Bazaar is the number one hot spot. Here you will find everything that your heart desires at very good prices and, above all, negotiable! Enjoy your Istanbul ride!
