Spring is a great time for travel—and not just for college students. Spring is the season when everything starts growing again—everything is green, flowers are in bloom, the world smells fresh, etc. There is no better time to put those airline credit cards to good use! So where should you go? The following destinations offer some of the best springtime travel opportunities:
Costa Rica is one of winter and springtime’s most popular travel destinations. This is because springtime is the time when the country transitions from its dry to its rainy season. Everything is green and growing and because you’re there in spring you won’t have to worry about the torrential rains of the season because those won’t show up until summer! It’s an expensive trip to be sure, but with some research you can find credit cards that will help you afford it at a good rate.
If you’re into flowers, you’ll have to pay a visit to the city of roses. The roses start to bloom in April and peak in June. The city even has a month long Rose Festival. Note: the weather is highly unpredictable in the Pacific Northwest so you’ll probably encounter rain while you’re there but the city’s International Rose Test Garden makes the wet weather worth it. Plus, it’s an affordable city so you won’t have to worry that the trip will break the bank.
Japan is a beautiful country to visit all year round but the spring is especially breathtaking, especially in the country’s most popular national park: Fuji-Hakone-Izu, which is home to the famous Mt. Fuji. Spring is known as “cherry blossom” season there and even if rural park visiting isn’t your thing, the country has lots of fantastic urban areas you can explore.
Cape May, New Jersey
Cape May managed to get through Hurricane Sandy with only minor flooding so you don’t have to worry that you’ll be visiting a ravaged part of the state. This is one of the country’s oldest resort towns. There are Victorian mansions, a beach and lots of great shopping. The weather is cooler here in spring so you’ll want to bring a sweater or two but going in Spring will give you the chance to explore and relax before the hordes of tourists invade in the summer (the city’s peak season).
These are just four places, domestic and abroad, that deserve your tourist dollars this spring. They’re all waiting to take your reservation so start dialing!
